Do they have to be good locomotives to be liked by railfans?

Generally we're not the ones that have to work on them, so why not? Things like Baldwin Sharknoses weren't good locomotives according to what is generally said in books and places like Trains magazine, doesn't stop railfans, does it?

Have you tried TLC or Morning Sun Books? They've both published numerous NYC related books in the past decade or so.

You guys ever read any of these rail books published by Motorbooks? Prime example of what you're complaining about with misinformation. It also affects their racing books they publish, and probably every other subject they publish books about as well.

The tracks are gone now. I've seen what I think was the old row there, but there were posted signs or something similar I believe so I didn't want to explore in fear of making someone mad (been a few years, so my details could be wrong). And there's a gazeebo there and at least 1 or 2 rundown buildi...

Was very nice, hope to see it reopened again full time. :)

Is it closed now?

I stopped by last summer and there was no sign of activity. It previously had a musuem in the depot about Rail City, as well as a gift shop inside with books and such other stuff.

Won't ever happen, there hasn't even been a battleship in service since early 1992. :)

I believe they were General Electric J47s (Which is what was used on B-47 Stratojets), not Pratt & Whitney J57s (That were used on B-52 Stratofortresses).

Subway cars in Canton NY today?

by Leo_Ames ¦  Wed Jun 23, 2004 9:55 pm ¦  Forum: New York State Railfan ¦  Topic: Subway cars in Canton NY today? ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 1245

Someone told me they saw what was apparently a train of subway cars with the name Metro on them. Any idea what these cars are for and where they're heading?

Thanks for any help.
