Here is the link to that video that shows the #25 at the Mexican Steel Plant. http://youtu.be/A50-ndHygjE The engine is visible in the last few seconds. Also, in the link above to the #25, that page indicates that it is SP #2405. Just to add more confusion, my roster as well as www.thedieslshop.us s...

To correct the list, the Rock Island 421 is incorrect. It should actually be the 424. It was indeeded painted 421. There was a discussion about this locomotive sometime ago. PLM renumbered it. I have photographs of the cab side detail and the '4' can be clearly seen painted over. The UP ended up wit...

I can say for certain that this locomotive has nothing to do with the A&A. If I'd of been two minutes later, I never would have seen it traveling through town. I don't know anything about it's origin or destination. By chance, I ran into the locomotive again in my travels this weekend. It is sto...

What is this loco? (CLC switcher?)

http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj344/BSOR_Patarak/truckloco.jpg I was in Arcade yesterday afternoon and happened to see this locomotive being transported through town. It was 18:00 and was traveling south on route 98. It was mostly blue with a red maple leaf on the side of the cab. I was only a...

Civil War Weekend

The A&A just wrapped up another Blue & Grey Weekend. The re-enactors put on a good show that is for sure. On Saturday, they also put on the 6th coach. It is the first time in almost 12 years that they've been able to add the extra coach. 18 sounded great with the extra load and the little bi...

Those coaches are on the way to the BSOR. James Strates Shows purchased them to replace the ones they left behind at Florida. The hopes is for them to join the rest of the Fair Train before it departs toward Syracuse. They'd like to have them traveling with the show so that they can gut and outfit t...

The carnival crew was supposed to finish loading the train sometime last night. The part of the rides should be all set up at Elmira as the Chemung County Fair is now open. (That is one issue between these shows because the tear down/loading crew is utilized to drive and set up the other one, essent...

Yes, Mr. S. you are correct. The A&A Corporation was formed in 1917. This 50 year anniversary is for the beginning of the steam excursions with #18and 14 that began in 1962. 2017 and the 100th anniversary of the corporation are another celebration to plan for next.

Is the train moving to Wilkes-Barre now? The Orange County Fair at Middletown runs July 15th to July 31st. I thought it would close Sunday. Part of the rides/equipment would be trucked to Elmira as the Chemung County Fair runs August 2nd to the 7th, with Erie County fair starting the 10th. They usua...

Also as a railroad employee, I have strong feelings against the quite zones. For one in Hamburg, it is a road by road, case by case basis. The tax payers pay the burden for crossing protection improvements. (It does not always include four quadrant gates and everything fancy). The money could be spe...

2012 will be the 50th Anniversary of Passenger Excursions on the A&A. How many other operations have survived that length of time? What kind of specials should be planned to celebrate the 50 years? One was to have a "grand re-opening" weekend complete with ticket prices from 1962. $1.5...

There are a few track maps around, but the one's in the office are much to large to copy. I haven't opened them to see dates. All of the stations had a run around type siding near them. Only Curriers had the one that went around the depot to the west side. It was used for unloading at a Mill that wa...

A friend in Arcade told me that the coal storage building stood until the mid 1960's (65 or 67). It was brought down with a controlled burn by the fire company. The white building out front at the road was operated as the coal mill restaurant until 1969. Some time around 1970 the Village of Arcade b...

That coal siding came off of the main about where the first driveway is behind the buildings North of Main Street. It would have curved west off of the main across the parking lot and ended up parallel to the creek. In the later years (60's) it ended at Church Street. In the earlier years, this was ...

We had an excellent turn out and couldn't ask for better weather! As a special for Fathers and Grandfathers, they'll be running #6 again on Sunday too. With a paying child, it's only $7 for Dads! It looks like we'll be double heading with 18 on the 12 noon trip again as well. No photo run bys, but y...
