The display is now open for the 50th. We had a wonderful reception Thursday night for the grand opening. It was a lot of fun to talk to all of the people who've worked on the A&A over the years and hear their stories. We also had a good turn out for my slide show on #18. Oh, BTW, 18 is getting a...

Cherry Creek Wood Crafters at South Dayton - They bring in "boards" and make trophy plaques. They have begun shipping again after a long hiatus.
Stored Railcars have filled sidings and parts of the line for quite sometime. Rental income is common for such light usage lines

The 50th Season of excursions at Arcade begins in less than two hours! There are several things going on through out the year. First, every 50th ticket purchased at the walk-up window at the Arcade station will be free for the celebration. The Arcade Historical Society is also planning three weekend...

For the 50th Anniversary celebrations, there is indeed more in the works. The Arcade Historical Society along with the Friends of A&A, the railroad and hopefully the Town and Villages of Arcade are planning several weeks of events around town. The historical society is broadening some of their f...

Yes, I'm working on scanning parts of the B&S survey map. There are parts on there that show the "old" BA&A under their plan. I'm trying to clean them up enough to make sense out of them.

I looked back at the paper clippings of the wreck and came across the following: 10/10/1902 Wyoming County Leader The accident occurred on the switch which runs from Arcade Village to the gravel pit above Sandusky. The train was coming from the pit with seventeen loaded cars about 9:30 a.m., and was...

Here is a postcard view of the Merrell Soule Plant at Arcade. To the left is the line off of the wye heading along the south side of the creek to the PRR.

Yeah, from a railroad point of view, it was terrible to allow the track to be curved the way that it was moved. This was done to allow Koike-Aronsons build a large addition (which is supposed to add a significant number of good paying jobs in Arcade). If this really happens, then it can be dealt wit...

That first map showing the wye and route to the PRR is interesting and probably pretty close to actual. As Russ said, the creek has wandered a bit. The track was poorly constructed, so I doubt if anything could be found there today. Also, several major floods have had there way with the land through...

I think I'd like to walk in from the creek as well....It appears that the creek has changed it's path greatly through the area...may not be much left. Also, most of the structure was wood, so there will be little remaining. http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj344/BSOR_Patarak/wymantvc.jpg Here is t...

The extension of the BA&A towards Buffalo was indeed started. A Steam Shovel was brought in to Java and work began on the extension. It was proposed as an "electric railway". The electricity was to be made from local streams along the right of way. There was also a proposed extension t...

The units in Gowanda were the NYLE's. The #62 was an ex Falls Creek and the late George Hockaday had moved it there. The only other engine cut up at this time was the 5067. Both are now tiny pieces and mostly off of the property. You are correct that much of that stuff has sat a considerable amount ...

Flagg 75 came from there. Also, the water tower and water stand pipe are stored in a box car at Arcade, NY.
