Traditionally, electrification reduces the operating costs compared to diesel. The MBTA should not consider electrification nor battery operations unless they can demonstrate that it will save money.

Tourists aren't going to take Commuter Rail to NH to go to the state liquor store, buy lottery tickets, cigarettes, fireworks, go to casinos or hotels. Perhaps they will take Commuter Rail to a restaurant. And I don't think you need to worry about the second homes driving up local spending, it's the...

Administratively dissolved in NH eff 9/1/2023. 120 day reinstatement period has expired. Did you check with the Island of Sodor Business Registrar? Trademarks presumably up for grabs. No way that they can operate any excursions without a new filing somewhere.

As I've suggested before, contract with Amtrak to maintain electric locomotives for PVD line, and have Keolis maintain the locomotives and trainsets for the Downeaster. Using ALC42E locomotive sets might allow trains to use non-electrified station tracks and limp home to Boston Engine Terminal for m...

Will BART be able to make use of these early arriving cars to avoid high end-of-life maintenance costs on an existing fleet? Or are they ending up scrapping fully depreciated cars to make room in a yard for new cars?

What is State Rep Smith's agenda? Pro-trail or pro-rail or pro-snowmobile? You don't launch a study without having a direction you want it to point in.

I don't see anything in the article about Trirail's cost, other than the platform boondoggle. 10% fare recovery is not acceptable beyond a startup phase of a year or two. What is trirail's load factor? Implied in the previous post was that Brightline has lower operating cost than Trirail, which you ...
