The state supported route in the Gulf Coast might be delayed some more but when it starts, it will probably use Amfleet Is and horizons. While it may be overkill to have a Sprinter on both ends of a Keystone plus a P42 on both ends of the Keystone, as mentioned, every bit of motive power that is sup...

Re: Lower Boonton to become the Essex-Hudson Greenway?

Yes, the Montclair Connection project has had many benefits besides just connecting people from MSU and stations east of there to NYC and HOB. It enables easier commuting access to Downtown Newark. I have worked in Downtown NWK in the past and have commuted on the MOBO from Upper Mtc to NWK Broad St...

I have been hearing the news and seeing pictures from other railfans of the Keystones operating with a Sprinter on each end. The same thing goes with running a P42 on both ends of the trains that run up and down the Springfield Line.

For every ICT that enters revenue service and performs well, that will translate to knowing when to phase out the Amfleet Is. They may still ride fine but we don't know how they might perform four years from now when they start getting phased into service in the Northeast. It will be a slow process ...

Those existing sidings that were around before the new sidings were built weren't in service for passenger operations. Basically once all of the sidings are ready for the brand new train service to begin, passengers who depend on the WBL will have more options. I wonder if there are people living al...

While as a railfan and proponent of rail transit, I am certainly pretty sad to see the decision be made to convert the former Boonton Line to a rail trail, I am quite happy at the same time. It will be great for people to be able to bike and walk between Montclair and Jersey City as well as maybe be...

Those points could be something to think about with the Springfield Line shuttles. Who knows-when CDOT gets their brand new rolling stock for Ctrail, we have to wonder if that will make the state want to make all of the trains running only between New Haven and Springfield and Greenfield be operated...

This is an interesting video and hopefully the facts will match Amtrak's official order plans. There are some things said that I would probably reconsider mentioning. The Amtrak Hartford Line Shuttles and Valley Flyers could probably have a lot less than eight cars. Yes, those trains should be opera...

Re: East Side Access NOT LIRR

The trip from the time that you get off your LIRR train at NYP to heading to the immediate block around GCT boils down to many variables. They include walking along the LIRR platform to the nearest stairway, escalator, or elevator which you would take to get up to the station level. Depending on whi...

The main project that is needed where the tracks are is the brand new tunnels but that’s an Amtrak thing.

Penn South would certainly have to happen. Those 9 additional tracks at NYP are very important as they will provide additional capacity for NJT trains that layover at NYP rather than having to head to Sunnyside Yard. Heads up, MNR trains that access NYP won't be coming from the West Side of Manhatta...

Personally, I think there is very limited things that you can comment on in this thread without going off topic. If the route into and out of GCT from Long Island will have LIRR crew members, then the service should be operated by LIRR. New York & Atlantic Crew members have nothing to do with th...

While the majority of the Huntington bound trains run express in Queens, they still make many stops once in Nassau County. People traveling on those who connect to a train to Pt. Jeff at Huntington certainly have a longer ride than they should. I feel for those students attending the university at S...

It sounds like the Clark Jct bypass will help mitigate the issues with the Brown and Red Line trains-speed and frequencies of trains. It's been 7 years since I was in CHI last and I have only been there a couple of times. In 2010, I rode the Brown Line past Belmont and remember that it was slow cros...

That is true-all of the bottlenecks must be mitigated along the NEC before Amtrak decides to let any Amtrak trains stop at SEC, if they ever do. Yes, the brand new B&P tunnel must be finished. All parts of the Gateway project must be finished as well before Amtrak even decides to let a few of it...
