Whatever became of 957 after she was crashed? Sold, cut up for scrap? I remember it was stored on a siding behind a building somewhere up the line towards Barre. I have a picture of it somewhere...
Adding my .02$ for what it's worth and changing the subject slightly. Seeing the 954 needs paint why not paint it back into it's original Maine Central scheme? It is relevant and eye catching.
I don't think it was in RailPace. I looked thru every issue it could have been in and couldn't find it. It was probably in RF&RR.
MikeVT, you ain't kidding about 3601 being hard to see. I had quite a time just finding where it was. Look like he has quite the collection. No pictures...

Still there 4/28/11
Seems there's been an awful lot of S4's scrapped in Mass in the last couple of years......
Is the other Alco in line for scrapping? I know one of these belongs(ed) to the RR museum in Fall Riv.
I remember seeing a picture of it being transported in Railpace when the private owner bought it. It was reported there the engine was gutted of prime mover, generator and traction motors to make it lighter. Any idea of the time frame? I have bound issues of RailPace back to 1984, I'll have to dig ...
Hmm, can' make it out on Google maps....must be hidden in the trees.....
Great, next time I get up that way I'll have to check it out. MikeVT, if you go by there definetly take pictures.

I've seen it quoted in a few places that #3601 is in private hands in Berkshire, VT. Does anyone have further info or pictures of this unit? Is it viewable by the public?

So i went over to were the USS Massachsetts is docked
That's the USS Salem, a cruiser, the Massachusetts is in Fall River.
They actually have 3 44t GEs, the entire roster of Aroostook Valley RR. I think they have the snowplow too.

Great link ferroequinarchaeologist! I finally found a few pictures of Berlin Mills 70T GEs I'd been looking for. Thanks
