Re: Vabderbilt Tenders

B&M leased several Erie Mikados with Vanderbilt Tenders for a few months, but these were the only Mikados used by the B&M and the only locomotives with Vanderbilt tenders. The tenders on the R-1d are the same as that of the Big Boy, Challenger, and NYC Niagara.

Quite nice. Funny thing is, that blue on your geep is more of a Pan Am blue than the blue Guilford/PAR uses now. The current blue is more of a MoPac blue. The current Pan Am Blue is meant to resemble a paint scheme used on Pan Am planes in the 1940s and 1950s. The scheme was a dark blue winged glob...

Oops, my apologies, I didn't realize the units were designated longhood forward (especially after 3608 got nose surgery). I just found a picture showing a yellow nosed unit, presumably 3601, inside the Morrisville shops next to to 3608, so you are correct.

In the HSP-46 thread, it appears that those will have a new paint scheme. What are the chances that the MP36s will arrive from Boise in that scheme as well? a rounded nose locomotive would definitely look odd in the current lightning bolt scheme.

252 and 216 look very good running together. The lack of pilot striping doesn't really bother me, and it appears that Waterville did a very good job with prep and paint work. *Cool Picture Alert* I was looking around at older New Hampshire Shortline pictures, and happened across this one of NHV's GP...

Several trains on the Fitchburg this afternoon were running late. 467, was held at Waltham for a late 424, and then crawled out of Lincoln because a good sized cow was standing between the #1 and #2 tracks(if you're familiar with the area, the double track widens giving a good amount of space betwee...

While it may be that this was another shakedown run, I was told from a MBCR conductor who had at one time worked for the company, that this is an actual passenger run. It's done for a class, or some event at UNH. The train is run from Dover and thus they bring the equipment down to Rockingham to tur...

While it may have the yellow CV nose now, it certainly didn't have it when CV sold it. 3601 was acquired by LVRC along with 3608 and 3612. with the latter two in active service, 3601 was needed as a parts source. This would explain the gutting of the locomotive and what was likely a lower price for ...

Though 7802 was badly damaged in the 80s, it is still operational. While it spent the remainder of it's time on the LVRC in the Morrisville deadline, it was sold to the Wabash & Grand Rivers. I assume W&GR paid Conrail to re-build it with an EMD prime mover. From W&GR it went to the Fort...
