In addition to the new connection to the Chemical Coast, the original track was rebuilt also. There is now a switch west of AK drawbridge. One lead goes to the new connection, which is a curved ramp that goes down to the Chem Coast. The other lead goes to the former Staten Island Railway line. Headi...

I thought the same thing regarding the power lines. The thing is, there are no power lines there. The brush, weeds, etc. were cut down to ground level under the Route 78 bridge. Maybe some landscaper who's a railfan donated their services.

I decided to check out the Rahway Valley today, 5/14. The tree cutting has continued on the right of way. Most of the bigger trees that were growing on the track or interfering with the right of way have been cut down in Springfield and Summit. There are still a few spots that haven't been done yet,...

I did not see the tractor when I went by tonight. I can report that the trees on the right of way are being cut down between Meisel Ave., and the Temple, in Springfield. The "brush" hasn't been touched yet, but all of the trees are being cut down.

The work continues in Kenilworth. The trac-hoe is currently digging a trench for the new track alignment. The grade crossing on Kenilworth Blvd. will be moved about 10 feet to the west. This will eliminate the sharp "S" curve next to the car wash.

There is all new track on the RVRR between Route 28 in Roselle Park, and Kenilworth Blvd. in Kenilworth, with the exception of some grade crossings. There is also new track between the junkyard just north of Route 22 and the bridge near Meisel Ave. in Springfield.

The trucks from the oil co. are still parked between Michigan Ave. and Faitoute Ave. The track between Michigan Ave. and Market St. has been cleared. The fence you see on Market St. is the one for Josephs Trucking. The gate is still there, but there is now brand new track right on the other side of ...

I checked out the Rahway Valley today. The track gang has completely redone the curve that runs from the switch at RP junction to Market St. in Kenilworth. The old rail and ties have been removed, and new rail and ties have been put down. All of the trailers and almost all of the other stuff that wa...

The houses in question on the LV branch are not on the right of way. Those houses were there when the railroad was active. After the rails and the ties were removed, the homeowners extended their back yards. Some of them built sheds on top of the right of way.
