Upon resetting the cords, they were unable to get the train to recharge. Therefore the brakes on the affected half of the train were cut out and they were doing what is called "other than head car operation". So why didn't they just drag the affected train instead of pushing it? You don't...

I admit I know very little about the subway equipment, coming from a freight background upstate. But I don't understand was went wrong with the disabled train. Why does just pulling an emergency cord disable the train? After it comes to a stop, can't the emergency valves be closed or reset again to...

At this point, I'd like for 203 to become a heritage unit, to "repair" it's horrid paint job at the moment. From what I was told - because I said 203 would be a good candidate for the same reason you think it would be - it wouldn't be a good candidate because of its horrible condition - a...

It stopped in 2014 when they changed the crew base for the shuttle from New Haven to Stamford.

One loco is at North White for painting. I won't spoil the fun and give the number.

There's a yard lead into Concourse from the 4 line, those leads are south of Bedford Park. The yard leads into Mosh aren't actually subway like the leads from the Delta - and right now, since the flyover from 207 to the 1 line is out, Concourse is the only bi-divisional access yard right now.

No dates yet, but the first stations slated to get the machines include both the IRT and IND flavored Fordhams, Junction Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue, and 86 and Lex.

SEPTA still validates fares on board - if you don't tap, you get charged a max fare, and they do the same in the UK.

Speaking of OMNY, any bets on how many more years before OMNY spreads to LIRR /MNCR, and when that happens, what it will look like in use? Assuming that MTA doesn't put turnstiles / gates on commuter railroad platforms. Probably like SEPTA - turnstiles at Grand Central/Penn/Atlantic/Jamaica, valida...

Just because you choose not to use eTix doesn't make it unsafe to use or unviable. Plenty of people don't bother with the TVMs anymore.

I wonder if the longer trains are the reason PATH seems to have changed from having the conductor riding in the front two cars and operating the doors from there. They appear to have now adopted the NYC Subway practice of stationing the conductor in the middle of the train. Maybe for better visibil...
