Okay now I get what you're saying. I didn't realize the crew would have to climb down to track level between the cars. Thanks!

Vague and cryptic? It's impossible for train operators to safely investigate an emergency brake application in tight clearance areas. This requires checking between and under cars when a train is tripped and the train operator doesn't know why. It's also completely ridiculous to expect a train to d...

Okay now; I'm having difficulty understanding all these vague and cryptic statements about the problem with these cars. Can someone please explain it in understandable English? :(

I believe most interlockings are controlled by "Master Towers" today. The wayside route selection panels are located at some places in the system where routes diverge. I'm not sure if the route selection button controls the switch ahead or if it gives an indication to the tower operator th...

Someone mentioned above that the train operator may only get a two month suspension. Might not be enough by some standards, but it is a punch in the gut. Person loses two months consecutive pay for the year. How many here could handle that without difficulty? :( Also re: the failure or lack of radio...

Hope you're right. Could be the current set-up is just temporary until the new AirTrain is built.

So yesterday I took my annual sightseeing ride on the EWR air train from the railroad station. When we got to the end of the line at the new Terminal-A, I was surprised to find that the AirTrain Station is widely separated from the terminal, unlike the stops at the other terminals which connect more...

I really believe that the trip arm would have retracted once the front section passed the arm's sensor location. That is based on what I have observed. I don't think so because the trip arm only retracts if the signal changes to a proceed indication which didn't happen. A "dead" train pas...

Something that no one has mentioned including the media, possibly because no one is old enough to remember it: In 1970 there was a train collision on the Queens Blvd. line at the Roosevelt Ave-Jackson Hts. station that was the identical scenario to this one. That one resulted in two fatalities and m...

Should do what SEPTA did at Philadelphia Airport. Extend the rail line into the Airport with a stop at each major terminal. :-D
