Does anyone have information on the ex D&H 4126 which is owned by the city of Albany? Location, condition, etc. Is the city willing to sell?

Thank you,
KV

The only reference I've seen was in the Fairy Tale Railroad book also, and the relocation was between Kast's Bridge and Countryman's, in the late 60s. This was to fix an area that had numerous wash-outs. Apparently another washout in the early 70s sealed the line's fate. There was still business in ...

Sorry, I was a little confused. Another book I have talks about a factory in Northwood shipping out 10-12 cars per month around the turn of the century. Turns out the route was originally supposed to go to Noblesboro, but was surveyed to Northwood. The line did in fact terminate in Hinkley. So they ...

Yes, that's it. Trenton Falls used to be a huge tourist destination in the 1800s. That was before the hydroelectric dams were added. It's still pretty scenic but has been posted for years by the Power Company. Many people have been killed in falls or diving accidents over the years. If you zoom out ...

No, but there are a few areas between Poland and Herkimer that are used by ATVs. Between Poland and Remsen the ROW is either overgrown or has been obliterated in some places. It's still possible to see the fill that used to be Beecher Trestle, and the tunnel over Beecher Road, as well as a nice long...

There's an entry in the 1883 Report of NYS Railroad Commissioners, concerning the New York, Richfield Springs and Cooperstown Railway Company. Articles of association were filed Dec 15 1882. The railroad to be "commencing at or near Ft Plain, in the county of Montgomery, and running in a southw...

Here's a photo of 3634 fresh from the RLW Paint Shop in late eighties. 3612 was the first SD45 painted at RLW and was released in summer 1987.

Here are some recent shots of the old Adirondack and St Lawrence, later NYC, bridge abutments in Trenton Falls. The bridge was removed during WWII and sold for scrap. This area is rarely accessible and has been in an area controlled by a Power Company (was Naigera Mohawk) and is subject to trespassi...

I too would be very interested to see estimated moving costs...to central NY. If it could be broken down into prep/loading, cost per mile, and unloading, that would be great.

Can the friction bearings simply be replaced with roller bearings on the same trucks/axles? I'm not familiar with that process but always assumed it was relatively straightforward. If not, and the trucks needed to be replaced, would it be possible to use AAR trucks instead of Blunt, without any modi...
