Back when I was living in NJ in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the SuzyQ hauled Sea-Land stack cars. I understand that business is no more. So is there much long-haul traffic for the Suzy Q today? Who are its biggest customers?

Grades and Height of new TZB

I don't know but is there thought that a new TZB will have to be elevated along its entire length over the Hudson River to allow movement of ships? I ask because the approach to an elevated bridge could mean a less severe grade going up/down to the bridge from the Rockland Co. side. If the Coast Gua...

Could M/N operate a train up/down the present I-287 ROW to/from the existing Tappan Zee Bridge on the Rockland side? The grade seems kinda steep.

Thanks, Joe. I've heard that explanation of how the Tappan Zee was built just outside the PA's 25-mile limit of operation. The irony now is that there have been newspaper articles within the past two weeks about allowing the PA to operate Stewart Airport. Stewart is well outside that 25-mile limit a...

Back when I was living in NJ in the early 1990s, NJT offered a $5 weekend fare to/from NYC during the pre-Christmas period in December. The trains were packed with families going into the city and riders just loved it from the comments i heard. It only was offered one year, 1990 or 1991, I think. Wh...

Assuming a high-level bridge were to be built for commuter trains, anyone know the approx. distance across the Hudson River? Any place either north or south of the existing bridge where the river narrows and it makes more sense to built a RR bridge?
