Nice looking machine. Fresh rebuild?

From the name, and the business next door with which I think (repeat, think) they may be associated, it's thermite type welding, like used for rail. And the semi buried track leads to that business, right up Colonial Dr. N. Look at the road closely, rail AND ties showing in places like they just cov...

Wonder how much traffic they'd be lookin for, enough to make it worth while?

Looking closer at google maps, Orgo-Thermit did have a spur. There is still a road crossing at the site and a section of track next to one of the buildings. And there appears to be rail partially buried under N. Colonial Drive (their main access road).

Manchester is pretty big. It could be south of Lakehurst, off Clayton's track. Also Orgo-Thermit and associated companies are a pretty big operation. Was there maybe a spur into there at some time? Can't find any spurs on the old USGS maps but only looked at a couple.

From the look I got at the track at Fairfield Rd this morning at 10 AM I would not have believed they would run an engine down it. My bad, history in the making.

No way they will run Farmingdale-Freehold tomorrow and probably not next week. Fairfield Rd - Yellowbrook Rd may not be completely ballasted yet, certainly hasn't been aligned and tamped even for the first pass. If 1888 was east of Okerson this morning, (pics or it didn't happen) they didn't tread p...

There seems to be a lot of leftover ties and rails at some spots where they rebuilt the tracks, like by Howell Rd, where there is a TON of ties. Are they going to put siding tracks in at some point somewhere along the line? I noticed same thing. Waay back, there was a passing siding in the vicinity...

No, I take it back; it's a small 6x10 sign with white letters.

I noticed on some of the posts mounted about half way up there is some kind of rectangle that looks like a LED display, it may be some kind of warning device. I'll need to look closer.

Its almost like if you just wait for the work to get done, you will know what they are doing. Not being a present or former railroader, pretty much. Having lived in this area for a loooong time, and never expecting it to make a comeback, for me it's like Forest Gump, never know what's in that choco...

Alignment machine East side of Fairfield Rd.

Crossbucks placed Yellowbrook, Adelphia, and Southard. Also apparently track work being done to extend stub track towards Railroad Ave.

Crossbuck posts placed without crossbucks, Howell and Okerson Rds.
Progress, ain't it great?

Lots of rail stacked by the stub track between Railroad Ave and Southard Rd. in Farmingdale along with wood ties. Seeing the stack of ties by Main St, I suspect their plans include some intensive maintenance along the southern between the two wye switches (existing and proposed future).

Looks like the track is now connected all the way through. They tied into the Fairfield Rd crossing some time this morning. Now for ballast, alignment, ballast, rinse and repeat. In Farmingdale they have put a bunch of rock (not ballast) down, about 50 ft in from Railroad ave extending west (north) ...

They got the remaining dip out of the track at Adelphia Rd. Still working Yellowbrook - Fairfield. Progress not visible from the road, but I'm sure they're getting it done. Track, all that they've finished looks really good, looks smooth enough for passenger service. And no, I'm not implying anythin...
