Re: Arrow III Thread

There's only two options recommended for further study: status quo and a transit corridor that includes both light rail and bus. Frankly that seems reasonable. A heavy rail line that's less than 2 miles long is overkill for the amount of ridership on it, and requires much higher operational costs t...

No need to wonder, as NJT as actively looking at the future for the corridor . Yeah, and not all the options are rail..... Thanks to the Multilevel Power Car configuration requiring a minimum of 3 cars (power car with cab cars on either end), a 3-car Dinky with that much capacity is overkill...

Remove trains from the schedule.

https://www.ctinsider.com/connecticut/article/ct-metro-north-schedule-fare-increase-shore-line-18429177.php Connecticut finalizes plan to increase rail fares, cut Metro-North service At the same time, the state will remove a total of 21 trains from service by the end of the year, in line with budge...

Update to the service cuts. The early morning round trip has been hosed, and there is a new in New Haven at 8:30am, with a new departure at 5:18pm. That early morning trip is too early for commuters to New Haven and the MNR connection takes 20 minutes, and gets to NYC just 15 minutes before a train...

EXO has dual modes they don't really need any more....

No updates yet, but in the meantime, an issue has cropped up involving the wheelchair lifts, so they've got to get that debugged first now, as well.

Return of PCC's to Route 15 is delayed due to SEPTA not yet having completed training a sufficient number of operators. No start date is announced.

Given recent issues, the systemwide operator safety training blitz is taking priority.

Just to give you some chuckles in an otherwise serious environment.... and hoping to pick up some location tips for next time.... I was in the Toronto area from July 1st to 9th. I already had a location picked to video the westbound Canadian for Saturday, July 8th, at Downsview Park GO station, on t...

Shore Line East, for example, is only operating at two-thirds the level it did before the pandemic, while the more popular New Haven and Hartford lines have returned to full service. I would guess any through trains from OSB or New London would still be the usual 4-car sets, but express from New Haven, with just the stops the former Stamford-extended trains did (if any), and then nonstop to 125th and GCT. I could see 6-car sets being used. Those trains would have decent ridersh...

Makes sense to me. I wonder how much ridership the current airport station gets? Especially since it can only capture riders from the west. One thing I wanted to do after seeing they were side by side on my first trip on the Lake Shore Limited in 1992 was for my next trip to Chicago, leave town on t...

Comet IV Cab Cars - Blanked-out windows

As we know, the Comet IV cab cars' days as cab cars has long ended. Today, they are only used as trailer coaches. Several years ago, I noticed that cabs 5011 and 5020 had their end windows plated over, headlight area plated over, and the ditch and strobe lights removed. I assumed at the time the con...
