Re: Will PATCO ever expand east to Atlantic City?

I have never heard of any serious proposals to extend PATCO and seeing that the PATCO line parallels NJ Atlantic City line I dont know the history of why the line was built in the first place. Last I rode it it was using cars from 1960 something..I know about the bridge train but beyond that never ...

As the previous tariff required a state ID that had a magnetic stripe and and none of the newer style IDs have such a stripe that rule has been effectively in place for years. I'm surprised this limitation hasn't been challenged. The state pays for senior fares, which would seemingly imply a valid ...

I'm having a hard time to get excited about the KOP project. While it's too late to turn around with the project I am worried that the Roosevelt subway funding will be affected from this. It's good that rail transit can expand in the Philadelphia region, it's time to have Septa leadership support t...

Amazon (along with others) overbuilt warehouse space. Amazon bought my (ex-)employer's site 18 mos. ago for a regional distribution center. So far they haven't even put up a sign. The existing building's now effectively abandoned. I wonder if there's any way the SW Philly site might be re-acquired ...

KOP Rail ROW Acquisition Authorized: https://www.inquirer.com/transportation/septa-king-of-prussia-rail-kop-train-20220922.html Very good news, even if it is 25 years late (!) Even though brick-and-mortar retail is declining space doesn't lie fallow for long. The area's still growing with other use...

New Land for the trolleys [trollies] but it's only 13.52 acres compared to the one amazon got which is 29 acres this land is good enough for the new trolleys [trollies] but they need more land for employee parking. From the Railway Age article: According to the authority, the property has an existi...

Don't knock tokens. They were a simple, effective, tried and true technology. History is full of simple, effective, tried-and-true technology that nobody wants to bother with anymore. Most people these days have their phones with them at all times, and want to be able to simply tap that phone again...

Looks to me like the bridge at Smedley Park just west of Paper Mill Road on the Media line. Yes, after a more-thorough search I agree it's Smedley Park. FWIW as kids we took the trolley to both parks but after 50 years the memories are a bit hazy. Here's a more recent photo from Bob Vogel's collect...

I'm not 100% certain, but it looks like the Naylor's Run Bridge between the Congress Ave and Beverly Blvd. stations.

Battery powered trains? Can't see that going too well. Agreed about the price tag as well for redoing the stations. West Chester would would need bus bays as well I would think besides just empty parking lots BEMUs (not the ones that sell insurance) are already in revenue service in both Germany an...

I don't know why the linked page doesn't show the detailed drawings presented at the May 3 dog & pony. There were graphics (but not full renderings) showing how the surrounding roads would be reconfigured for better non-auto access. That said, as a guy who's spent years annoying local officials ...

If we are building these rail projects let's upzone the area around the stations, connect it with buses and more bike parking. Park and rides need to go away in favor of mixed use TOD. The renderings for KOP rail seem to support parking around the stations and makes it difficult to walk or bike to ...

My point about possibly lowering the KoP extension's priority is that New Starts rules are a bit like Yoda - "Do or do not", etc.. Lowering the priority of a project effectively gives up its place in the queue. If an agency has to go back later and reapply for funding along with redoing pa...

Like the KOP rail it shouldn't be that high of a priority on the list. The boulevard BSL extension or the Navy Yard extension would have way more impact on the region. The political and business reality is that project-grant money isn't arbitrarily fungible. Competition for New Starts $$$ isn't amo...

I mean, the existing K cars have light up stop signs on their rears. True, but it's apparently not enough. School buses have lights on the back but people were passing them anyway. Anecdotally at least, it seems that compliance increased after signs were added that stuck out into the adjacent lane....
