Last October I was told that the foundation was to be poured for the new engine house at Olean. Apparently things are not moving along as fast as was expected. Any one with the inside story on the holdup?

I'm assuming your referring to the return of 638?

Thanks. Very interesting. (Wonder who or what was working Farmers Valley then?:-)

Anyone have more info on this? Is it permanent? New train symbols? Times? The Hornell Turn back to being Turn?

Andy, I assume you're being facetious? (I'm 99% sure you are but sometimes you never know....

I don't know if they are working on the 636's but it was my understanding that in October during my visit there that the emphases for now had turned to the four axles units. The 432 at Lakeville, the 4264 at Falconer and the 550 at Lakeville. I suspect all three of these will see service before anot...
Err .. Nessman, no one here is "dictating" to anyone how to manage their locomotive fleets. We're simply indulging in harmless speculating. The railroad will do what it feels is in its best interest and that's how it should be. So far the railroad has done well with its Alcos. Only time wi...
As I understand it operations really haven't changed, its just now symboled as MEHN east of Olean. Thus MEHN crew runs Meadville to Olean overnight (in theory) and then the former "Hornell Turn" crew takes it on east to Hornell and back to Olean still under the MEHN and HNME symbol where t...
I think a good steam cleaning is what produced the "heritage unit" it is today:-)
But I'm all for another good cleaning, followed by a nice corporate scheme repainting!

A number of those New Brunswick East Coast Railway and Ottawa Central RS-18's and C-424's should show up on the next CN auction list. A great time to get some good Alcos cheap.

the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum sold its two MRS1's to a company that scrapped them. Apparently the museum intended them to be used and not cut up. On the plus side the two 244's went to the DL where they certainly be put to good use. (I for one will gladly sacrifice the MRS-1's to keep the DL RS-...
Ah, I agree, that makes sense. As to interchange, the "trackage right to Sayre" for interchange is pretty common in lease/sell offs. I'm sure NS is keeping the trackage to any and all business in Sayre and enough room past it that their trains will never have to worry about reaching Lehigh...
The documents were public when they were filed. I'm curious why the discussion was "paused"? Apparently the deal could go down fairly soon?

Mr Mountcastle, forgive me, but I can't tell if you're serious or not! (I have to think not and my humor receptors are just not calibrated correctly.) But mostly I'm curious why you think the feed mill's days are numbered? (Honestly, I suspect without the mill the railroad would be doomed. Doomed I ...
