As Gadfly said. I was a Signal Maintainer for CSX. Everybody starts out in Signals as either a Signal Helper or as an Assistant Signalman which is what it's called on CSX. One thing about Signals is you'll learn a trade (Electrical,Electronics). The same can't be said for Transportation. Also you do...

I don't think there is a boot that does'nt get chewed up by ballast. Loggers have the thicker heel, but like I said before I think they cause knee problems. As for gloves, Carhartt makes some good ones but even those won't last more than a month or so with heavy use. Their also bad about turning yo...

Here's some advice from a broke down 32 yr. CSX guy. For those that don't already know, it's a good idea to already have a CDL license when trying for any outside RR jobs OTHER than Transportation(Engineer,Cond.etc.). CSX and most of your CLS 1s require it. Ya'll probably already know it, but I thou...

I originally was going to be hired as a Conductor but changed my mind as I did research into the position. I plan on having a family soon, getting married next year, and want to be able to spend time with my wife. Not too mention, I don't want to spend my career waiting for the phone to ring. I sti...

I have to say, after hearing all the negative things about CSX around here, I only hear great things about them from new guys. I understand they are new guys, but they talk about how professional CSX is, and how they treat people with respect, how incredibly professional and thorough CSX REDI cente...
