You love 179 sooooo much! I will get joyce to hook you up with that one every day ;) Now supposedly we are or could be part of a purchase of Siemens power. So far i am not impressed with what they are showing me. The only good thing about the old EMD's is the quick pickup at take off. That and the b...

I dont see it ever happening on the J. CN has turned that line to a grade A fluster cluck. The one they want to run through Chicago Heights on the C&EI line would be interesting. But here is the problem, this agency is a government agency. We dont do anything fast ( except run) when it comes to p...

The ones Metra is focusing on now ( rumor mill here) is a connection from the Rock past South Chicago and down old C&EI lines to somewhere like Crete I guess. Follow that with the Southwest to connect in at Englewood with the Rock, the "Star line" and you have projects coming out the w...

My carrier is push pull. We have the delayed in block on certain lines. Ours is prepared to stop not exceeding 40 mph till next signal is visible. But on the line I operate we have locations where we dont have to follow said rule as we have cab signals. GCOR also has a if you drop below 10 mph that ...

Train master jobs are the toughest IMHO. You have no union protection and you are the bottom of that hill that excrement rolls down. But the good news is, if you do everything right and can hack the BS you can move up.I have a friend who was a TM at CN who is now a Super at CP. Still a lot of BS and...

You are always safe, you understand 24/7 call is tough, but you are willing to do it.You are interested in railroading because of the mechanical aspect ( dont come off as a foamer ) and you dont know everything ;) Just be yourself and honest and everything should go well.

12 th street intermodal yard and coach storage.Metra didnt need it so they dumped it. The engineer that ran the engine said it was a PITA as he had to lay down and run it ( so as not to see him in the cab) took a ton of takes. Lot of the old Rock guys here remember the making of that movie and laugh...

Tom your doing good by going through the RRB. Try Ancestry.com for some more info. Most historical societies have no info on former employees. So try to get any info you can and use the RRB. Also check out ebay. Look for union records and anything from the IC in that time frame. I have the minutes a...

The RFE makes the decision. You may have too many lay offs, misuse of FMLA? BLET does NOT hold the contract for LETP. That is a UTU contract held over from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. Sorry but I have to agree with the UTU being a bunch of crooks anymore. Have seen too many guys getting b...
