Any 4-axle unit is permitted on the Grenloch Industrial, including GP38-2's (most common) and GP40-2's. I've personally seen a B36-7 on the branch. Six-axle units are prohibited per the timetable.

I've no idea if that concept truly entered the mind of the owner of the equipment, but keep in mind that it's not so easy to just donate a piece of equipment of this type to a museum or group. Simply moving a car of this size requires a sizeable sum of money, and if the owner does not have that, th...
Agreed Mr. Ed, times are tough but those cars sat around thru decent times too. Did the individual need the scrap money that badly that he couldn't donate them to the NJ RR museum group, Pennsy RR museum, Steamtown or the Altoona people and let them live and possibly be restored? The donation of th...
I think I just figured out what you were referring to - I believe you're talking about Agway, they're located between Bordentown and Yardville around MP 28.2 on the Robbinsville Industrial - they receive covered hoppers. They're a significant customer as far as I know. I'm just not sure they store c...
Yesterday i drove south on US Rt 130 in Bordentown where there used to be rail service on the old Camden and Amboy Line to some kind of plant or factory. The last time I saw any service on that line was several years ago. I thought maybe the RiverLine had killed off freight service north of the Bor...
Last century, when we went to Cape May for our annual vacation, I recall seeing a map of old Cape May back at the turn of the century. It showed at least two more blocks of houses and a trolley line where the ocean is now. It blew my mind that so much of the ocean front was taken by the sea. I wish...
Yes, that was definitely, 100%, a trolley line.

It would be great if some how CMSL could find a steam locomotive to run on the line.It would be hard to find one ,but a great attraction.I bet centrel and south America still has some of our old ones we sold or gave away when we switched to diesel, but shipping would be expensive. A nice idea, but t...
That's right Glenn - there was never a second canal bridge - only the currently standing one ever existed. Additionally, Harbor Branch Junction (where the branch to Schellengers Landing split off the main) was just south of CANAL, not north. In fact, CANAL is at milepost 78.1, while HARBOR BRANCH JU...

I had the pleasure to attend our family reunion in Tuckahoe NJ yesterday. I had not been there since 1981. Much has changed but for lack of traffic things were not nearly as bad as I had expected. The CMSL equipment was all parked on the Cape May tracks and the track from Philly to the remains of t...
Oops - brain fart. You're absolutely correct of course
Got so used to referring to SRNJ over the years down there.

Those tracks are Conrail's Salem Running Track, which sees trains 2-3 days per week. Movements over this line contain cars that are destined for interchange with SRNJ at Swedesboro.
Movements are at 10MPH.

Should be in Cape May next week Tues-Thurs and I'll try to find out when the CMSL expects to run its first 2010 train. Information has been hard to come by of late but I'll keep trying. dlagrua: If you have time, can you go out on a field inspection of the Sunset Beach Branch and see how far the en...
