Many years ago the ties for the third rail were installed on the central branch but the actual rail never came.

I only become annoyed with this subject when I have the need to go to JFK. But, with all of the "Transportation Expansion" projects going on, i.e. the "East Side Access" and the "Downtown Manhattan"Transportation Hub". wouldn't you think that someone would have con...

EXPANSION ! It's amaizing that in 2011 you still can't get off an AmTrak at Penn walk across the platform and get a train directly to JFK. Most big cities have trains directly to their airports, not NYC, you can't get there from here.

It would be easier getting the Beatles back together

Can you imaging getting a MN train from Stamford going over the Hellgate Bridge connecting with the LIRR main line and then the Rockaway Beach branch directly to JFK. Never happen, too many politicians, too many egos and too many railroad rules. Forgetaboutit, You'll never get there from there

Best train I ever took left from LIC. on the Montauk Branch, first stop was Westhampton Beach. It was great, like traveling on a private line. Why they never built it up I'll never know, it was so different.

Ah yes, "The Hamptons" In order to help the children escape the mean streets of Connecticut, we summer in the Hamptons. When the helicopter is being serviced and the automobiles are being detailed I'll take the Cannonball from LIC, it's great. LIC, Jamaica, Westhampton Beach, boom you're t...

Amaizing !

We have landed vehicles on Mars, performed "gender re-assignment" operations and wet leaves still stop a train.

"If you build it they will come". Pantographs for everyone!!!, I'm tired of "wet leaf delays"

Seems to me that there is a little to much "buff bickering" going on here and not enough logical thought exchange. "Sence is something that is no part of living on long island" BINGO ! Thank you 7285. It's all about the money/politics or politics/money. Poor planning gets what po...

This is something that should have been done in 1962, then we wouldn't be hearing all the bs now. Just take a look at the branch from "Google Earth" and you'll see it's a no brainer, it goes straight to JFK. It's amaizing, you can see the platforms at Ozone Park and the Atlantic Avenue con...

I know that this is "beating a dead horse but"................ Open up "Google Maps", (the satalite version) and type in OZONE PARK, N.Y. When the area pops up, zoom in and you will be able to see where the Rockaway Beach left the main line, where it goes through Forrest Park ove...

Thank you 7285, but it's true, common sense bows to political whatever. The Rockaway Beach to JFK caper cured me, the reasons for not taking that path were unbelievable.

This is so typical, no solutions to the problem, just political posturing. Let's make the LIE 10 lanes wide with an HOV lane just for trucks carrying radio active ca ca. God forbid adding a third track, Hey!, maybe they can build another "AirShame" down the middle of Hempstead Turnpike. :w...
