I'd like to find out what specific brands of beers and wines are shipped to Gordon by boxcar, and what area stores they are distributed to, so I can support them. I know many brands move via rail with trailers & containers, but I'd really like to support those that utilize boxcars.

Also great to see boxcars behind the Gordon Logistics warehouse in the Raritan park last week, I'm assuming they're delivering some type of beverages.

I saw this line of high sided open top hoppers on a siding in the Raritan Industrial park last week, what customer might be getting those? One of them had an old stencil mentioning woodchip service, though not certain if that's still the case.

Great photos! Did you get any close ups of those sweet Bangor & Aroostook boxes?

While over three years ago, I was able to catch the Oak Island to Metuchen transfer while awaiting the Palmetto as Metropark station in August 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNjrIQQRagQ Nice footage, thanks for sharing! Is that destined for Metuchen, or leaving for Oak Island? There were qui...

If I'm not mistaken, the transfer from Oak Island arrives around 10-11pm and returns north a few hours later. All under the cover of darkness. It used to occasionally run in daylight but Amtrak prefers they only run during off-peak, overnight hours. Exceptions can occur (and did recently occur on a...

When can one typically catch the transfer into Metuchen? I've had the luck of seeing the RCRY as well as the switcher working at the Whitman Ave crossing a few mornings, but would love to see the transfer arrive sometime.

I remember those MDW boxes being here in Maine, and also the ADN (Ashly, Drew & Northern) boxes that used to go to the GP mill in Woodland all the time. ADN was based in Arkansas, but I think maybe owned by GP, so they would probably pool the cars between their various facilities. On another not...

Over the past year or so I've been noticing a different type of open top highside hoppers coming thru Rigby. I'd seen them in large numbers around NYC and Long Island, as well as around the Boston region, where I believe they carry C&D waste, but never up here previously. They are usually black ...

Very sad to see Gary's bev go, I've been stocking up on beer there and walking the tracks next to it during stops in Portsmouth since the early 90's. That was my most reliable place to find the beloved Schaefer, at a reasonable price, for so long!

Watched a solid line of at least 30-40 Csxt gondolas in a row rolling out of the storage area on the west side of Rigby the other day, wonder what that's all about ?

A gondola and a flatcar are now visible near the front of the property by the Broadway entrance, it might be the very end of the spur. Can't recall ever seeing cars right there before...

Surveillance cameras have now been installed throughout Rigby yard, and additional lighting as well. I'm assuming this is due to the rapidly growing intermodal traffic we're now seeing, but am not certain. The last yard camera I can remember was a large one on the east side of the yard by the old cl...

Really enjoyed this thread and the history included. I found Utica Club beer here in the Portland, Maine area for the first time today, and being a sucker for cheaper classics (Schaefer being the favorite), decided to grab a 6er. Pretty tasty! Anyway, I googled it of course, to see if their brewery ...
