Yeah sorry, I should've been more clear. The mean distance between failures gives an indication of how reliable equipment is -- but it doesn't mean that much if it isn't broken down by vehicle type. For the MTA, information can be found for example here: http://web.mta.info/mta/news/books/pdf/170221...
Sure, commuter rail.
Hio, Does anybody have data on the mdbf for the heavy rail rolling stock of SEPTA, broken down by vehicle type? The only published information just throws all heavy rail together (example http://www.septa.org/strategic-plan/good-repair-mdbf.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fals...
Visiting New York, I rode on the New Haven line. The 6543 train on Friday was served by M2 cars. I sat on 8705. This was a nice surprise, as I thought they'd all been retired. Apparently 24 cars (36 according to another source) are in the MNRR reserve fleet, so this was a pretty lucky catch.
Hio, Does anybody know in which specific railway regulation Canada defines the railway safety rules related to buff strength, anti-climbing mechanisms and corner posts? There are corresponding rules in the States, but I have trouble finding them for Canada. It would be neat to see the actual rules a...
Can't the transformer and other electronics be removed? It's not really needed to display in a museum...
Does anybody know how this SMART order with options works/worked? I found online that they have options for a total of 146 cars, although they only ordered 17 so far. Did they include all these options to sell to other agencies who need DMUs? Otherwise, why get so many options. I read that Toronto p...
Bombardier?
Cool, thanks for digging this up.
Those trains do not use the the tracks between Gare Centrale and jonction de l'est. Clearly, these trains can go nowhere near Gare Centrale or the Mount Royal Tunnel. They get onto the Deux Montages Subdivision via joncton de l'est.

I was referring to the tracks near Gare Centrale not taking the weight, and needing upgrades. Are there any other trains on the tracks used by the Deux Montages trains?
I think that CN doesn't care and they just want to get as much money as possible; but as infrastructure provider they should have responsibility to keep the tracks in a state of good repair (the AMT is paying plenty of rent). It would be best if CN just sold the whole line to the AMT (or MTQ), then ...
Maybe its cuz the only thing that's been running on those tracks in twenty years is the mr-90, which is much lighter. And those tracks just can't take the weight. What I don't get is why they don't just buy/lease three or four surplus/used electric only engines that were used in the NEC, which shoul...
Are they still going to retire the 60 Arrows at some point?
