I recently moved to the Hartford area and have been needing to go to Boston a few times over the last few months. Wild that to get from Hartford to Boston, Amtrak shows a trip plan of taking the train to New Haven and then up to Boston. Just baffles me that there is no direct train from Hartford to ...

Simple amazing that the county lets this line just sit there even though a willing a proven operator is ready to go.

I've been following these threads for years and really hope they grant this extension. Even just this little bit could open up so much potential in the future.

I don't understand why you and the article say the Solari flap board was removed recently from NY Penn ("this week" in the article dated today.) I thought NY's were removed many years ago. I agree it's a pity. Those are great fun to watch. At Stanford Business School there is an art insta...

http://billypenn.com/2016/08/25/amtrak-to-replace-30th-street-stations-iconic-flipping-departures-sign/ So, after Amtrak decided to take down the boards in New York Penn, they've now set their sights on the Solari board at 30th St. I just can't see this happening, but it sure seems like a sign of t...

Tunnel on West Chester Branch right before 30th Street Stati

I used to ride the West Chester Branch frequently commenting to school and work. I always noticed at uncle that branched off towards the Powelton Yard right after University City station.

What was this tunnel called? What was it used for? When was it last used?

Good Morning America just showed a YouTube video of Engine 188 while talking about the engine for Train 188. Clearly not the same thing.

Just crazy how little the mainstream media knows about railroads in general.

There seems to be a whole string of new cars on the line that used to lead to Assembly Square.

Just noticed it yesterday. Looks like a few tank cars.

No. Still right near Sullivan. Just a bad phrasing of mine.

Just meant that it was on the tracks leading to Assembly.

The baggage car seems to have been moved further down the track toward Assembly Square. A bunch of MBTA flats and MOW cars are there as well.

Did these tracks used to extend all the way into Assembly Square? it seems as if they would have, but they stop short now.

I went up on this branch yesterday for a few miles with my dogs just to see how it is. A little overgrown, but definitely walkable for the mile or so around the station. I wish it would stay like it is, but it most likely will get paved over into a stupid bake trail. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3...
