Does 1228 running with 1277, 1236 running with 1257 and 1242 running with 1267? because Chicago Railfan's train cycle is mostly incorrect.

The trains listed above are Naperville express runs, with the odd numbers being those that run outbound in the PM rush. While its possible that 1228's equipment could be used for 1277, it could also be used for 1257, or 1267. Depending on what's going on at 14th St., some trains can use the same exact set for days at a time, while others will change daily, but still run with the same number of cars. In other words, the system of equipment cycles can be an inexact science; it's a system that can vary and change at will, and depending on outdated sources such as Bill Vandervoort's Chicago Railfan site for all the answers will only frustrate you, as you've probably found out by now. If you really want to know, you may have to do the research yourself. And even then, depending on the method used, you still might not get all the answers, it's a roll of the dice, and some of it will just depend on luck.

Besides, I don't think he ever really intended for that page to be used as a reliable, definitive source anyway; indeed, he pretty much admits to this on that particular page by stating the following: "Some of this information may be speculative, but it at least gives a general idea of how equipment cycles work" And, here's the biggie: "Information is subject to change"...
