Is the frequency of trains on weekends/holiday the same as weekdays? Thanks for any information.

Base headway on Saturday is generally around an hour, same as off-peak weekday hours. Sunday/holiday is about every 2 hours. Some metra lines (SWS, HC, NCS) do not have weekend/holiday service.

Also, the MED is a whole different beast schedule wise.

The average frequency on weekend trains is every 2 hours, with some exceptions on Saturday. It seems as Metra revises schedules, "peak" Saturday trains run every hour with noon being the reversing point. The big factor in weekend frequency is the line traveled.

Metra Electric really runs like a weekday schedule on Saturdays(that if you delete the mo-fri only services, and add a couple of sat. only trains.), on sunday The Main line, and the South Chicago branch run as through trains from Downtown Chicago every two hours. with no service on the Blue Island Branch.

Heres a Typical Sunday schedule on the ME:

Regular bold for Main Line Trains, and Italics for the South Chicago Trains.
