Does CTA operate light rail also and what type of equipment is used including the signalling system.?

- Discussion related to commuter rail and rapid transit operations in the Chicago area including the South Shore Line, Metra Rail, and Chicago Transit Authority.
CTA operates heavy rail and bus service only. At one time about 5-6 years ago there was talk of a Loop Circulator that might have ended up as light rail, but nothing ever came of it. Of course, up through about 1957 CTA opertaed streetcars and until early 1970's trolley buses, but those are long gone.
