Hi

Where can I locate a report on accident in the middle of Houston MS on 19 December 1962, where 19 freight cars were derailed and fell on to highway 8 etc..

A earlier derailment in the late 50s early 1960s also in the middle of Houston MS, where the Ingalls 4-S diesel loco was derailed and rolled down a bank ending upside down. Required recovery and repairs in Mobile AL. Any reports about on this accident.

Thankyou

You might have better luck posting in the "Southeastern Railfan" section of these forums.

The Interstate commerce Commission used to investigate certain wrecks, depending on severity and resulting casualties. What you describe, 19 cars, rolling onto a public highway, etc would seem likely to have caught their attention. Some of those reports are available on line but I don't have a link. Try searching "ICC Investigation Reports", "Historic ICC Railroad Wreck Reports" and various combinations of similar wording.

Good luck. And beware - those reports can eat up your whole morning or evening, it's almost impossible to just confine yourself to just reading the one you are looking for!
