This caught my attention.
NS is donating $250K to the Pullman National Historic Site in Chicago to help create an exhibit on passenger service.
Here’s the article link in Trains: Norfolk Southern Funding Will Help-Bring Railcars to Pullman National Park and State Historic Site
My wish list is more than the $250K, but the site needs a true train shed, a la Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, that wii provide cover to the cars!
If I were the Pullman NHS, I would seek donations of…
A Plan 2410 or 3410 12-1, as it was the single most populous accommodation.
A 14 or 16 section tourist car.
A buffet/lounge/sleeper, showing what Pullman could do in food service.
An RPO. How many trains with Pullmans carried them?
A coach. Let’s be honest, lots of people got from a to b in a chair car.
This covers Pullmans HW era. For the streamlined era, substitute a 10-6 for the 12-1, substitute a diner-lounge for the sleeper-buffet-lounge.
Because this is the Pullman site, all cars should be made by Pullman.
