News4 is reporting that on Monday, May 22, an Amtrak train derailed as it was going from L'Enfant Plaza to Union Station. This forced Amtrak to close many tracks and caused VRE trains to be stuck at Union Station, so they could not leave for the evening commute.

To think that TV station reached out to Amtrak and still were not told the original cause - derailment of rear trucks on engine/lead
trucks on first car of train 84 as it was passing through the switches at A Interlocking (north end of 1st St Tunnel). The radio
streams were uncharacteristically quiet on the issue.
