Let me just say, I understand there are limitations, but making alternative response never has happened? When cant trains run from Trenton to Newark then head to bayhead? So there is some type of service?

There is PATH from Newark to WTC or 33rd Street, and there are agreements to cross honor NJT tickets when there are bridge or tunnel issues. Also diverting NY bound trains from the NEC to Hoboken could help, although the track configuration may not be the best. Again this would use PATH (and the ferries), but Bayhead makes no sense at all.Midtown Direct trains do get diverted to Hoboken. Those and the regular trains to Hoboken probably leave very little capacity/ability to divert any NEC trains in addition.
