The LVRR mainline from Lehighton to A'town is now a well maintained (and in some places paved) nature trail called the D&L Trail. I don't know when this happened but it is very recent. I also don't know if NS sold the land or they just let the state use it for a trail. I guess we will never see rail service now. Believe it or not I found a few places near Slateington where ties and long sections of rail on track #2 still exist next to the trail. Here is also a pic of the LV freight house in Washington Twp (Lehigh gap area) under the Rt 873 bridge. Can you just imaging the LVRR appollo piggy back trains doing 65mph at this exact spot?

The second photo is south of Lehigh Gap looking north at the Gap towards Lehighton. Exact location is Washington, PA. That bridge is Rt 873 traversing the Leigh River.
NS informed me that they did, in fact, sell the LVRR row.
