Over Columbus Day weekend, my wife and I made our annual trip to Jim Thorpe and the Lehigh Gorge. While I didn't see any NS or CP trains during my time trackside, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway was busy with hourly trains into the Lehigh Gorge, two trips west to the Hometown High Bridge and a sold out Fall Foliage train from Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe pulled by their steam engine. So there was a decent amount of trains moving in and out of Jim Thorpe. And while you can plan your trip, Mother Nature has her say on the weather. We did get up into the Lehigh Gorge State Park after the rain had stopped, which was a good thing. Anyway, here are some photos. These are from Saturday:
The one o'clock LGSR train enters the lower part of the park:

I was able to catch R&N 425 at Nesquehoning as the engine just finished getting some water and was heading back to Jim Thorpe:

Later in the day, while biking between Jim Thorpe and the park, I saw the steam engine come off the turntable and head to Nesquehoning for water:

Later in the afternoon, I went to Nesquehoning and caught the Hometown High Bride train heading back to Jim Thorpe and then the Fall Foliage train heading back to Port Clinton:

On Monday, the clouds returned, but I did photo the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway trains. First, the train crosses the Lehigh River as the train heads back to Jim Thorpe:
