I've seen videos of them going 25 through Pine Hill Road in Lancaster from quite a while ago, so going 25 through Clinton is not new. The question is how far north they got with the surfacing before they were pulled elsewhere.

Good to know that whatever remains of the 10mph is somewhere east of lancaster and thus a short stretch. Thanks

At 1044/11-17-2023 XNG noise was made for Temple Street with later WB sounds at appropriate intervals for Shrewsbury, Burncoat, and mebbe even New Bond Streets. Dunno if this was from the 427 that was working the Hill Yard either side of 0400.

[OT] Just need to connect the other end of the station track, take down the railing, add a yellow tactile strip and Chester Depot is ready for Amtrak service!

Is that an original or reproduction sign, and is it from the NYC era?

Crossed the WOR18.2 -- Temple Street -- in daylight ~0815//12-12-2023 and the newer and ~100 yds more easterly equipment case is gone, which probably explains why I didn't see the power indicator on my 12-12 and 12-08 predawn trips.
Anybody know why and/or why it was installed in the 1st place?

There's a newly-installed defect detector in Clinton near the old landfill on South Meadow Rd--within the last few months. There's height detection equipment on it. Are there plans to run double stacks on the line?

The 264/265 intermodal pair, as noted previously in the STB filings, and posts here. Won't be DS capable until they address height restrictions on the line, others here know better than me what those are.

As noted before, at least one longstanding height restriction is the csx overhead bridge for the Ag branch at depot sq clinton

A mystery train tonight, at about 18:45 I heard on the road channel "997 stop signal CPF WL." Then at 19:07 District 1 gave a " Form D to 997 with the MEC 7609 to operate in both directions on the single track WOR 1 to Burncoat." There was then something about "what to use for your ?? in and out of Worcester should I use the reader?"

Later plentiful radio traffic confirms what Mr. Barlow said. The symbol was actually "S 997" which was past Littleton DD about 22:50 and got permission to continue east because of expected high hits.
D2 told them to expect signal to "drop" at NC, signal maintenance crew on site to observe issue.
Train crew suggested wyeing the power at NC so tomorrow's crew wouldn't have to run 20 mph long hood forward all the way to Rigby. D2 agreed good idea.
Loads were to be set out on "the turnout" Crew would taxi back to Rigby.
Train crew said it was a "dedicated train" out of Buffalo.

I forget if "the turnout" is Lowell or Lawrence.

Turnout 1 and 2 are in Lowell off the #1 Freight Main only a few feet west of the Western Limits (dwarf signals) of CPF-BY.

FWIW, I drove over the CSX Worcester Main on New Harbor Rd bridge at Clinton at 1030 Thursday 1/18/24 and saw a yellow Herzog (?) material handler train working just southwest of the overpass near Woodlawn St. Couldn't stop so I have no additional details....
