From what I've been able to read through web searches, the JW&NW is said to have ended passenger service in 1947, when all electrified service was ended and two GE 70 ton diesels picked up the freight service.

However I have seen some evidence they replaced the interurban cars with at least one bus, given #20, and continued carrying passengers until the last day of service (1/21/50). Has anyone seen more evidence of the bus route? Internet and eBay searches turn up lots of interurban car photos but nothing about a bus.

For those not familiar, the Jamestown Westfield & Northwestern ran sort of northwesterly from Jamestown, along Chatauqua Lake, crossing the PRR at Mayville and then ending at the NYC depot in Westfield. While it crossed under the NKP they had no connection. It was an all electric operation until the last few years. A small portion in Jamestown remained in use through 2008 and may still have rails on parts of it.
