The NS has put one of their heritage painted units on its side in a derailment in Pittsburgh early Sunday morning. The engineer got out OK on their own, but medics helped the other crew member out.of the unit. NS personnel said that the train hit a rock slide. This was reported in the PIttsburgh Tribune Review and WPXI Channel 11 in Pittsburgh..
Another report said the train (20W) hit a giant boulder. Also stated that both crew members had minor injuries...
Unsure what will become of both engines but the trailing unit (8175) looks like a write off to me. Been hearing that the Southern Heritage engine will be painted into the regular NS paint scheme if it is repaired...
