I believe the culprit is the Bronx River Parkway bridge, where a girder buckled and is dangling above the tracks. Trains have been suspended both ways all morning.
New Haven Line service is suspended between Mt. Vernon East and Grand Central while NYS DOT crews conduct urgent roadway repairs above our tracks.

Customers traveling to and from New York City are advised to seek alternate means of transportation.

Hourly local service is running between Mount Vernon East and points east.

Limited shuttle buses are available to connect customers to the 2 subway line. Westbound trains are departing from New Haven at 36 minutes past each hour and Stamford at 59 minutes past each hour.

Eastbound trains are departing from Mount Vernon East at 4 minutes past each hour.

To/From Manhattan

Customers traveling to and from Manhattan should use the 2 subway train and transfer at Wakefield 241-St for a shuttle bus to Mount Vernon East.

There will be no Yankee Clipper trains today.

Restored great. Thank goodness this happened on a weekend. This incident just points out the necessity that the New York area needs several projects to enable using alternate routes into GCT (NYG) and NYP. The MNRR east side Hell Gate route is already taking more delays. In this case Amtrak appears it was unable to run shuttle trains between NYP to New Rochelle connecting to MNRR. Am not surprised. That would have been a disaster if the bridge had failed during the week.

Even though it was not advertised for the train I was on yesterday Amtrak did run a shuttle train to NYP. None of us were expecting it and I am not sure if other trains received it. We had all been told that we would be taking bus service from Mt. Vernon East to the sub way. As our train approached New Rochelle the conductor made an anointment that there was an Acella to take us into the city sitting across the platform. Not sure if they had shuttles for other trains or if we just lucked out.

Now that is an atta boy for Amtrak for at least one MNRR train. But long range plans need to be made by Amtrak and MNRR in case either route ever gets blocked again. Thank goodness this blockage happened on a Saturday weekend day.
