The JSCC Club Car is going onto a Hoboken train - #2304 and #2309 - for now at least. It will run from Hoboken to Bay Head - similiar to its PRR days when Exchange Place was still in operation. I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets moved to a later evening departure (i.e. #2311 that leaves Hoboken at 5:46 p.m.) as that seems more plausible and in line with its current schedule. Look for an equipment move over the weekend from Long Branch to Bay Head! I may try it out, as I am sure they will be looking for new members on this new routing!
I've heard that NJT wants to move in a direction where all multilevel push-pull consists operate in/out of NYC while the single level Comet coaches operate on diesel powered lines. Course I guess the RVL is the exception to all this! NJT likely also wants the Club Car off the NYC route so they have more "flexibility" to try and run multilevels on the Coast Line, especially with evening train sets and even morning train sets. In the morning it is bracketed by mutlilevel train sets (i.e. a multilevel train set leaves Long Branch before it and after it at present). However, the North Jersey Coast Line still does not have a lot of multilevel train sets running on it. A bitter sweet end to say the least I am sure for most JSCC members, as I would think NYP would be more desirable than Hoboken. I thought NJT was on the kick of - get everything into NYC? Now they send the "premium service car" if you will, to Hoboken....
Hope it works for JSCC, as this is the last of its kind! It's been in operation for over 75 years now - or so the sign and its web site says. And the train that the JSCC Club Car currently operates on is hardly standing room only due to the fact that it is bracketed by these multilevel trains in the morning and in the evening follows the markers of the 5:26 p.m. out of NYC (it currently leaves at 5:34 p.m.).
I noticed the Club Car was on the rear today, so that means it will be on the front tomorrow, Friday for the morning and evening runs. Car 5459! Post some pictures (Thursday) if anyone gets out and about! The Club Car will be on train #3224 and #3269 tomorrow (last trip to/from NYC) before the Monday change over!
