The Georgia Southwestern RR is one of two largely parallel lines passing through Fort Benning. The two lines split at a load-out area in the Sand Hill area of the post. I'm not sure which one was used more, or exclusively, for load-outs, but now it looks like it's just going to be one for certain.

GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN RAILROAD, INC.- To abandon a 43-mile line of railroad between milepost R-12.0 at Florida Rock and milepost R-55.0 at Allie, in Harris and Meriwether Counties, GA, and to discontinue overhead trackage rights over a line owned by Central of Georgia Railroad Company (CGR) between milepost R-2.0 north of Columbus and milepost R-12.0 at Florida Rock, in Harris County, GA. A final decision will be issued by December 10, 2007. (STB Docket No. AB-1000 (Sub-No. 1X, decided August 31, served September 11, 2007)

Taking a closer look at a rail map, I see this announcement pertains to a different route and not one running through the post.

By clicking on this link, you should be able to view the area where load-outs take place in the Sand Hill area of the post:

Fort Benning does not have its own motive power, so any switching is done by the commercial carrier.
