Looking at a pic of an Erie camelback and seeing the engineer's injector forward of the center cab made me curious about how the engineer could read water level. Were gage cocks located in the engineer's cab?

:-D This is old post so do not know if your still around. In any case
while I don't know for sure, as I can't remember what was there in the
long ago when I climbed around on this type power, I would say -
probably. There were two astern on the backhead in the fireman' s
territory of Reading consols, and CNJ 4-6-0 Mother Hubbards as I remember
it; along with the dual fire doors.
