According to an article in the DuBois Courier-Express, someone broke into the Knox and Kane's storage building in Kane and then set it on fire. The building contained two steam locomotives, a diesel locomotive and what the newspaper called "a luxury passenger box car".

Damage is said to amount to $1 million.

Although the article didn't say so, it seems that one of those steam locomotives must have been the Chinese SY the K&K used in its excursion business, when it had an excursion business.

I just read a report on another list that the Knox and Kane has a crew working in Marienville, cutting up the turntable and track equipment.
