Overnight from Tuesday Oct 7 to Wednesday Oct 8, the Haunted Hayride at Allaire Village was all but destroyed by vandals. Almost everything was wrecked in some way. They still plan to hold the event, beginning Oct 17, and are getting as many volunteers as they can to fix the attraction.

Today's Asbury Park Press has the story, both in print and online, Wed Oct 8. Online, go to "Hometown" and then click on "Wall" (Township) and the article is right there. I couldn't get the URL to copy and paste.

This did NOT happen at the next door Pine Creek RR. Just to make this clear, before the false info starts, it happened at the Village and not at Pine Creek.

Any volunteers? You can call Allaire Village at 732-938-2253 or online at www.allairevillage.org

WALL — The plan was to provide some creepy fun with holiday ghouls and goblins, but unfortunately for the staff at Allaire Village, some real creeps and ghouls showed up to vandalize their efforts. Vandals raided the historic Allaire Village and destroyed most of the elements that make up the haunted hayride at the state park. "What they didn't take, they left scattered around the area in splinters," said Diana Ioanid, assistant executive director at Allaire Village. "Vandalism is one thing, but this was very passionate and deliberate."
