What are these trains? They are shown here on the Amtrak's timetable for today:

http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak/TrainStatusSearch

I assume they are extra's ? anyone have any info about these trains>?

edit 4:20 :

ok the link isn't working, so the info i put in was:

Dept. city: PVD
Arrival city: BOS

Time of Dept.: Noon
Date: Nov 24 2004

1174 leaves PVD(providence) at 4:08 and 2162 at 5:08

1174 sounds like an extra section of train 174 (when is that train's schedule?).

Train 2162 sounds like an Acela, based on the number. Most likely an extra section, if it doesn't appear in the printed timetable.

Remember, Amtrak added tons of new service (as it does every year) for the Thanksgiving rush. Without having anything to look up, though, I can only speculate. Train 1174 is definitely an extra, but I'm only guessing that it's an extra for 174.

From Amtrak's printed Thanksgiving week holiday timetable:

There's an extra Acela every day leaving WAS at 11:00. Wed only it is train 2162, arriving BOS at 17:48.

Mon and Tue it was train 2110 terminating at NYP at 13:48.

Thu, Sat and Sun it arrives BOS at 17:35.

Train 1174 is a Regional on Wed and Sun leaving WAS at 9:15 and arriving BOS at 16:55.

Train 174 is a Regional running 15 minutes behind 1174's schedule on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Fri.

So both 1174 and 174 are Regional Extras, with both operating on Wed and neither on Thu.

The "tons of new service" is not as much as I had expected, and judging from the volume at Penn as I passed through late this afternoon, it wasn't enough. Let's hope trains have more cars, b/c there's not too many extra trains in the NEC Thanksgiving Day schedule from what I saw.

174 is a reguarly scheduled regional, not an extra. Unless something has changed in the last two weeks, it's been operating between Washington and Boston every weekday for some time and has been on the NEC's schedule for well over the last two years(when I first looked at that schedule).
