Tier 3 starts in a few months, and the builders are ready

The major locomotive builders and a few of the smaller ones demonstrated some of their new Tier 3 locomotives in Minneapolis this week:

The introduction of EPA Tier 3 emissions standards for main line locomotives in January 2012 was clearly reflected in the variety of motive power on show at the Railway Interchange 2011 outdoor exhibition at CP's Humbolt Yard in Minneapolis on September 18-20.

Surprised the article didn't really mention the NRE 2GS36C-DE - it seems like a legitimate competitor in the mainline diesel range.

Otherwise, I wish I'd been able to attend the show, but the registration fee was rather too steep.
