Ok, who was Zito (I've read that he was an executive with C&NW?), and what was his predilection for the that washed-out, '50s, nasty shade of yellow?

He wanted the locos to be more visible, so they chose the safety yellow. It was officially called Pentone 102C, but they nicknamed it Zito after the president, even tho he did not officially pick it out.
