sorry, but you're the one who is wrong.

the R179 HAS NOT even been ordered yet. we don't know how many, or who's going to build it or how long it's going to be. it's just a drawng on a sheet of paper right now.

actually, it might have actually been the r160-a/b

since it's pretty rare to see (i ride the F train daily), most people think that the train is in "testing"

but it's actually is service, and officially running

the 11 car train is illegel in passenger service under the current contract unless a third crewman is assigned to the train. the 11 car consist was a one shot test.

the contract rule is 1 person per 300' of train. 11x51'= 561' on the 7 is within the limit. 11x60'=660' would require a third crew member.

Ah yes..............and that would also explain how they can run 5-car trains in the late-night hours on the other IRT routes with only an operator, no conductor. 5x51 = 255 ft. Interesting................ :-D

If thats's that case, does anyone know if there were 2 or 3 crew members required to run the 9-car R110B set, a.k.a. R131? (67' cars, 67x9 = 603, only 3 feet over the limit, but rules are rules, right?)

I think it might have fallen into a grey area. rules are rules, but 3 feet isn't 60 feet.

seriously, for the last time, the R179's aren't due to appear on property until at least 2012 at the earliest, and that's being optimistic.
so i have no idea where your pulling this bs out of.

and plus we already know the car numbers involved:
R160A:
9372-9371-9370-9365-9364-9363+9357-9356-9355-9354-9353
