Port Authority Makes Deal to Put TVs in PATH Trains
By KEN BELSON
If nothing else, the rainstorm last week that left millions of commuters in the dark about the whereabouts of their trains and buses reinforced the idea that riders can never have too much information.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey plans to address that issue by announcing as early as today that it will include eight small, silent television screens by the doors in each of 340 PATH trains that it will begin introducing next year. The screens will broadcast news, entertainment and train departure times as well as alerts on delays, track changes and the like.
