Metro's GM has penned a lengthy report summarizing the issues with Metro and the next steps he intends to take to restore pride in the system. It's posted on Metro's website. http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/genera ... m_plan.cfm. Unlike Sarles, it's pretty clear Wiedefeld is not sweeping anything under the rug.

I am impressed. The Metro Volunteer Program, the lighting and PA upgrades (no one should have to feel unsafe or confused in a Metro station), the 15 minute grace period, the cell phone service in-tunnel, the "gap" trains... these are all wonderful for regulars and visitors. I'm still not incredibly impressed by the 7ks - I prefer the black-floor 6ks strongly - but am glad Metro is bringing on new equipment.
