Looking for any information on a CPR dining car believed to have been called "Aberdeen".

Any information would be appreciated.

This diner is one of approximately fifteen A-series dining cars built for the Canadian Pacific by National Steel Car and the CP in 1929. One car of this type, the Argyle, survives and has been restored at the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel in Cranbrook, BC Canada.

Your best source for information on the A-series dining cars would be the Dale Wilson book, "From Abby to Zorra via Bagdad". Although out of print, you may be able to find a copy on http://www.abebooks.com and from time to time, one shows up at the Lark Spur Line hobbyshop in Merrickville, ON. http://www.larkspurline-trains.com/

The CP Sig has a floor plan folio, 23-C-1048, in their library at http://www.cpsig.ca.

Finally, some information is available on the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel website at http://www.trainsdeluxe.com although, because they've been in the process of moving locations and setting up shop at a new site over the past year and a bit, the site hasn't been updated as much as they'd probably like - so you'll have to dig through it a little.

You are correct that a plastic model was produced. I'm not sure about Walthers having made one, but I am certain that Riverossi/IHC did release one, some time ago. Unfortunately, it was modeled after the Pennsylvania series of clerestory-roofed cars that were made at the same time, so it lacks the degree of accuracy that you are perhaps looking for.

What you may want to consider is contacting the BGR Group, located in Oakville, ON. They make a high-quality and accurate series of heavyweight CPR equipment. Perhaps you could convince them to release an A-series diner? Their address is:
