One thing to remember is that Irving will be receiving both Bakken and Western Canada Select Oil. These two will be blended at St. John before being fed into the refinery. The Bakken Oil is lighter than the refinery was designed for, while WCS is heavier, mix them together and viola, like Goldilocks says "hmm just right".
