BIG NEWS! i spotted a BNSF unit at the providence and worcester railroad's shop in worcester. definitely a GE product, at least an AC4400

They just bought the 3 b40s from BNSF and 2 are still in the shop. They have the ac4400 nose so its most likely one of em you saw.

The P&W purchased 3 ex BNSF B40-8W's. BNSF numbers 561,562 & 582. The 561 has been renumbered to P&W 4005 and the 562 and 582 are running on the P&W with the BNSF numbers with P&W markings on them. See attached links:

They 3 units do not have cab signals installed as of yet so they cannot lead on Amtrak but I guess they could put one of them behind a cab signaled equipped leader. The trip is on Saturday October 16 2010

so, we've got B40-7Ws? SWEET :-D this is th first wide-nosed locomotive on the P&W since the M420s, and the first i'll have the chance to see

looks like the BNSF paint job was more recent. all the pictures of her i found were her in warbonnet with BNSF lettering and logos

No such beast. The correct designation is Dash 8-40BW -- sometimes abbreviated as B40-8W.

You can be assured that these 3 B40-8W locomotives will be prepped and painted in PW livery as soon as possible. Im sure they need the power out hauling freight at this time. When things slow down or other out of service units get the necessary repairs to become roadworthy again, this will allow the railroad to remove each unit one at a time for painting.

All 3 units 4005, 562 & 582 are on Pan Am with a Bow NH coal train at this time. The P&W has also leased 4 GP38-2's from GATX one of which is all ready here and the other 3 are in route. I'am sure they will paint all 3 B40-8W's them when they can.

ya, saw that one on my way to youth group last night. looks like a GP20, or rebuilt earlier geep. definitely said seashore on it, painted in ACL scheme, but the blue replaced the purple. classy, really classy. looked like she was leading a local out of worcester north towards grafton.

The 1855 belows to the Seaview Railroad at Davisville.
They are a major customer of the P&W. The locomotive
was probably at the P&W shop for some sort of repairs.
